Conferencia de Oliver Yang, "Supporting Telematics over Vehicle Adhoc Networks"

Conferencia de Oliver Yang (Universidad de Ottawa)

Lunes, 12 de Julio de 12:00 a 13:00 horas en el Salón de Actos del I3A

Title: Supporting Telematics over Vehicle Adhoc Networks

Abstract: VANET (Vehicle Adhoc Networks) is an implementation example of the future Intelligent Transportation System in our roadways. There is much work to be done to support telematics over such networks. After presenting the objectives, themes and projects of Auto21 (a research center supported by the Canadian Federal Government and the automobile industry), we discuss various vehicular telematic applications and their requirements. The architecture and requirements to support a heterogeneous VANET is  proposed. The challenges, open issues and research directions are discussed. Various works related to the interest of the CCNR lab are discussed.

Bio: Oliver Yang (SM'01) is a Professor in the School of Information Technology and Engineering at University of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Yang received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Ont., Canada. He has worked for Northern Telecom Canada Ltd. and has done various consulting. He was an editor of the IEEE Communication Magazine, and an Associate Director of OCIECE (Ottawa-Carleton Institute of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is currently on the editorial board of IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorial. His research interests are in modeling, analysis and performance evaluation of computer communication networks, their protocols, services and interconnection architectures. The CCNR Lab under his leadership has been working on various projects in the switch architecture, traffic control, traffic characterization, and other traffic engineering issues in both wireless and photonic networks, the results of which can be found in about 400 technical papers.
